When we look at performance vehicles our thoughts go to Ferrari, McLaren or other proven high end cars. But what about high performance on 3 wheels. Although it’s not very common there are still a number of machines that lay down impressive numbers on only 3 wheels. A few 3 Wheeler with Reverse trike configuration are the Polaris Slingshot, Campagna V13R and the Morgan 3 Wheeler.
One of these performance machines is a 3 wheeler manufactured by Campagna Motors located in Boucherville Quebec Canada and called a T Rex. The T Rex is a revered trike configuration (2 wheels up front- single wheel in the back) with the seating positioned in front of the engine, much like a mid engine sports car. They also manufacture a second model, V13R from the same location. Campagna Motors was founded in 1988 and the T Rex became commercially available in the early 1990s. The T Rex was introduced into the US in 2001.
3 Wheeler – T Rex Performance
The 3 Wheeler – T Rex was designed by Deutschman Design, another Quebec company and is built using a full tube frame roll cage with 2 seats placed side by side in the cockpit. Power is provided by a BMW inline 6 cylinder engine producing 160 BHP. That power is sent to the rear wheel through a 6 speed sequential pattern, fast shift gearbox. Weight is only 525KG so this power package gives the 3 Wheeler – T Rex some impressive performance numbers. The 3Wheeler – T Rex does 0-60 acceleration times of 3.9 seconds and lateral acceleration on 1.3Gs.
Not only does the 3 Wheeler – T Rex put out impressive number with a BMW engine but it is also available with electric power. In electric trim T Rex has a Weight of 599KG and puts out 140 BHP with 232ft/lbs of torque. Acceleration 0-60 times of 3.2 seconds and top speed of 112 MPH. Driving range is estimated at 140 miles combined driving. Charging times of range from 2-8 hours depending on the type charger.

T Rex Aero3s Body Kit
A great add on for the T Rex is the Aero3S full fiberglass body manufactured by Anibal Automotive Design. This body give the T rex a more closed in appearance with full windshield, side windows and Lamborghini-style hinged doors. The front hood is also more pointed. This body kit and its additional accessories make the T Rex a not just a summer ride but makes it comfortable to drive in the spring and right into the fall when temperatures become cooler. The body kits have been in production since 2006 and add very different styling for the original T Rex.
If you go out in a Aero3s, T Rex you better get ready to deal with all the attention it draws and expect it to be a lot of selfies.
