One of the most popular and easily recognized Hot Rods on the road today is the T Bucket.

The T Bucket is based on the original Ford Model T that was produced from 1908 to 1927. The body of the two seat Model T roadster, shaped like a bucket, is where this Hot Rod gets its name. The original style radiator is also a trade make of this popular Hot Rod. After that the vehicle is totally customized to the owner’s vision of their own personal ride. T Buckets can be built from original parts or from aftermarket parts suppliers that product everything you may need or want. What powers the T Bucket can be anything from a 4 cylinder to a V8 or Flat Head engine and everything in between. Many newer builds have extra wide rear tires and more chrome accents than earlier builds. Headers and Superchargers on V8 engines and custom chrome wheels give each bucket its own flare.

Build a T Bucket from Scratch

You can even build a T Bucket from a kit.

Most of these kits start with a ladder type frame that comes with all the mounting points for the body and suspension already welded in place. The bucket shaped body is based on the original Ford Model T and can be made of steel or fiberglass. The front suspension is usually a strait axle mounted on a transverse spring. Disc brake kits are common on almost all builds and custom paint jobs a must. Maybe even a few flames added to the front of the tube.

After the basics, you can add any extras you want. Windshield, accent lights, interior or convertible top. You name it, all of these parts can be purchased from many after market venders that specialize in Ford Model T and T Bucket parts.

Before you decide to venture into a build, I would suggest you check out the regulations for home build or kit cars in your area. Many State – Provence, ect. have requirements that must be followed to make them street legal. This information is usually provided by the Ministry of Transportation in your area. Local service shops can also point you in the right direction.
