We are getting more and more used to hearing about electric vehicle these days. Not only are electric powered cars becoming available for the average driver, but performance vehicles are also on the horizon. One of these new performance cars is the Qiantu K50. The K50 has been said to be the first new Chinese Electric Supercar.

Mullen Technologies based in Southern California has partnered with Qiantu Motors to produce this vehicle in the US. These vehicles will be produced and sold in the North American market.

What do you get in the Qiantu K50?

The Qiantu K50 starts with a lite weight aluminum space age frame. Battery power storage is installed in a “T” shaped package. This is located behind the passage compartment. It is powered by dual electric motors, front and rear to provide all wheel drive. The body is constructed with carbon fibre body panels to again provide high strength and low overall weight

Performance numbers listed by the manufacturer claim power ratings of 430HP and a 0-60 time in the low 4 second range. The estimated driving distance is expected to be in the 250 mile range. All these numbers could change as final engineering updates for the US market are made. The Qiantu K50 is expected to sell for 105K – 150K.

Only time will tell how successful electric performance cars will become. In the North American market we are still trying to catch up with recharging stations and generally getting used to the difference between drive with fuel and adapting to the new technology.
